Um... hi, Randvi! I hope you're doing well this morning. We-we caught some fish! S-sort of. I scattered some berries I found in the river yesterday and then there were... fish in the morning. Dead.

Pretty sure those were poisonous. So, ah... anyway? Um... I was hoping you might know if it would still be safe to eat them. And then... preparing them? I have a knife with me. They look sort of like bass with pretty pronounced scales. I've never... prepared a fish by myself, though.

... Or with anyone else. A-and neither have Jet or Kokichi. I guess Ben caught some fish and did that for them a few days ago, but they weren't paying really close attention.

[It's Zam Rescue Mission Day, so Martin can hear background noise of moving through the forest. Randvi is still energized by being outside so much, so she probably sounds way too cheerful for this conversation]

It is difficult to say without knowing more about the berries - some things are poisonous to animals but not to us. I wouldn't recommend eating a fish that was lying dead overnight, though. You should bleed a fish immediately upon catching it.

If you have a knife, then the next step is to remove the scales starting at the tail, moving toward the head, and then make a shallow cut to remove the organs. It is important not to puncture them as they’ll taint the meat.

Fish are easy to catch with a sharpened stick through the head, if you see more that live.

If you decide to gut one of the fish, would you be willing to tell me what you see?

...nah, not really. "Ben The Radio Coward" is still a better alter-ego than "Guy Who Crawled Right Into A Trap," or "Talks To Children About Fursonas Man". At least it was his own decision to be pretend to have PTSD on the radio. He can't say the same about the trap, unfortunately.

[ It's probably wee hours of late night/early morning by the time Squalo and K make it back to camp with Xerxes (the Cat) in tow, but neither of the women they had gone out to retrieve. He looks tired and absolutely pissed off, though the fact that K seems to have handed over the rest of his whiskey to him has apparently placated him a little bit. ]

[ Hopefully Randvi is awake (or gets woken up by the sound of him angrily stomping into that part of the hangar while cursing loudly in italian); if not, he'll shake her by the shoulder (or bang on the door if it's locked). ]

Hey, mind if I sleep here? It's the only place here with a door and we've had a fucking WEEK. [ And, wiggling the bottle like it's supposed to be enticing; ] I've got booze and you can have some!

[Randvi was asleep, but all the stomping woke her up. She grabs her flashlight and rushes to the door, assuming someone else was injured, but it's just Squalo there in a fury. He's speaking so quickly that she doesn't even have time to be embarrassed that he's seeing her with her hair down like a young girl’s]

[ Yep, he's not finding that embarrassing at all. Maybe thinking she looks cute like that and imagining her in a fancy dress, whatever, but there's more important things on his mind right now. ]

[ He sighs and squishes his way in through the door, closes it, then immediately leans his back against it and just... slides all the way to the floor. ]

What didn't happen? Where do I fucking start... so, you know, me and K went to help out some injured newbies, yeah? Well, we get there, patch up the wound, 'nd we suggest we take turns carrying her, 'cause we can switch out when we get tired. Well, the fuckin' princess makes a scene about her tits touching somebody's back or whatever so we're stuck there making a stretcher and move at a snail's pace, for a start--

[ There's no "hey" or anything, but she'll likely recognize the voice as belonging to Levi. He is, in fact, very upset, though it may be difficult to pick up on without having talked to him a lot. ]

We lost Maddy. She was there one moment and gone the next, no traces or tracks. I don't know if that's similar to what happened during the storm.

[ With Zam, he means. ]

I can stay here to wait for her, bring the other brat back or we can try to continue the mission, but there's no telling who might disappear next. Thoughts?

[ Congratulations, Randvi, he decided you're officially the scout leader so making non-urgent but difficult decisions is your problem now. ]

[The fact that he's opting to use his radio at all tells her it's serious.]

Let me check… [Maddy’s callsign is gone from the list. Randvi feels sick.] Oh no.

Are the supplies she brought with her still there? Gather up anything she would want to keep and return to the village.

What? [ He demands, feeling dread creep up his windpipe even though his voice doesn't betray it. ] "Oh no"? What did you find?

[ He grimaces slightly, but there's a fair point to be made there, supplies are scarce and shouldn't be left behind even if someone runs out of fortune. He exhales with a bit of indignation as he checks the camp. ]

Most of it, I think. Understood. [ Pause. ] Shouldn't I wait here in case she comes back this way?

[ That's not how this works, Levi... ]

[ It's sometime in the late afternoon when Maddy approaches the airfield. She's a little unsettled, having suddenly appeared in a different place than she was before, seemingly at random. At least she can recognize her surroundings; she can tell she's close to the airfield.

Neither of the Levis are here either. Her confusion grows, and she feels worried about both of them.

What the fuck? What happened?

She moves in the direction of the airfield, walking until she sees a person. At she gets closer, the figure comes into view. Maddy breaks into a light run, heading towards Randvi. ]

Randvi?

[ If she sounds confused and a little out of it, it's because she is. ]

[Randvi is sitting near the firepit sharpening an axe when she hears a voice calling her name.

She looks up and her eyes widen.]

Maddy!

[She shoves the axe into a loop on her belt, and runs to meet her. She grabs the girl by the shoulders and looks her over.]

We were so worried! What happened, are you well?

I have reached the locals' village. The path I took appears to be safe. It might be a good idea to keep to the south while traveling through the felled part of the forest.
